Community Assistance Intern
Are you interested in learning how to help local communities solve problems equitably and inclusively in ways that make our democracy stronger? Everyday Democracy is seeking an individual who would like to learn more about a dialogue process that involves people in creating positive change in their communities.
This intern will get a chance to learn how Everyday Democracy works with communities. The person in this position will support our Community Assistance Team in a variety of administrative tasks, as well as conduct research and collect data. Working in this flexible and creative environment, the intern will have opportunities to strengthen research, documentation, and interpersonal skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE:
- Checking in with communities on their progress
- Conducting research
- Assisting the Program Officers and Equity Officer with documentation and other administrative tasks
- Collecting and transcribing data from community visits
- Assisting in production of internal newsletters
- Providing general administrative support to the Community Assistance Team
COMMITMENT
Suggested time commitment is 2 to 5 days per week for three months, for 10 to 12 hours per week. Working hours are flexible but the work must be completed between 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., weekdays, at our East Hartford office. This position is paid hourly and has the possibility of continuing after four months.

Communications Intern
Everyday Democracy is seeking someone interested in helping to spread the word about people changing their communities. We pay special attention to the connection between racial equity and the issues communities face.
The Communications Intern will report to the Communications Associate and will assist the communications team in supporting a variety of tasks that may vary depending on the intern's interests and skills. Working in a flexible and creative environment, the intern will have opportunities sharpen his or her research, documentation, and communications skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE:
- Interview community members for podcasts and stories
- Edit and transcribe audio clips to be turned into podcasts
- Conduct research for communications projects
- Conduct website updates and maintenance
- Assist in production of internal and external newsletters and reports
- Evaluate our communication tools
- Assist the communications team with various administrative tasks
COMMITMENT:
Suggested time commitment is 2 to 5 days per week for four months or one semester, for 10-20 hours per week. Working hours are flexible but the work must be completed between 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. weekdays, at our East Hartford office – telecommuting is not an option. This position is paid hourly and we will work with you if you would like to use this internship for credit or for a work study position.
The applicant should have an interest in nonprofit communications and be committed to working against racism and other inequalities.

- Knowledge of various communication tools such as HTML, content management systems, Google Analytics, Facebook, Twitter, and audio editing a plus
