Study circles to look at poverty in Rock Island Co.

Members of the Rock Island Community gathered to kick-off poverty awareness.

It's a part of "Project Thrive", a new program created to promote open and honest dialogue about high poverty levels in the area. The program hopes to help the community understand the challenges of poverty, fight against poverty and plan for the future.

Study circles on poverty will run for six weeks beginning Thursday, September 4, from 6:30-8:30pm.

They will meet at the Community Center Caring Conference in Rock Island, Project Now in Moline, and the Aldridge Learning Center in East Moline. Childcare and transportation in available. You are asked to pre-register by calling 309-786-0345
