Nicholas (Nick) Connell
Community Assistance Associate
Serving as Martha L. McCoy's administrative assistant from 2005-2007, Nick Connell recently took on the position of community assistance associate. In his new role, Nick supports the organization's technical assistance team and advises communities around the country on how to organize dialogue-to-change efforts. Nick also conducts research on outreach opportunities, supports website maintenance, and supplies assistance for the various projects that arise.
Nick’s wife, Sabrina, accepted an offer to join the prestigious Puppetry Arts Masters program at the University of Connecticut, so he gladly left his former position as a program manager and academic advisor at Fuller Theological Seminary, in Pasadena, California. Sabrina aspires to one day use muppet quality puppets to deliver lifesaving information to children in the developing world.
While in Pasadena, Nick significantly contributed to the formation of an innovative distance learning Masters degree for mid-career leaders, the first of its kind in that particular field. Simultaneously, Nick managed to do some Masters-level research in Intercultural Studies, focusing primarily on postmodern theology, globalization, popular culture, and social justice/peacemaking. Previously, Nick helped build from the ground up two different nonprofits, while in Orlando, Florida (‘96-‘02), GreeneWay and Palm Lake Community Church, where he helped create the community life and happenings of a motivated and gregarious group of people.
Above all, he is enthralled with his precious kids, Maya Tanory and Thatcher Anthony. What amazing gifts! As a family they enjoy biking, hiking, beach-ing and exploring New England.
