Sarah Eisele-Dyrli
Research Associate
Sarah Eisele-Dyrli, research associate, began working at Everyday Democracy in the summer of 2008 as Martha McCoy’s temporary assistant. Shortly thereafter, she began supporting the communications team while also working on other small research projects for the organization. Sarah became a full-time staff member in May 2009 to work on the research team for Everyday Democracy's "Strong Starts for Children" initiative. Sarah supports research efforts in other topical areas and also continues to serve as Martha McCoy’s assistant. While Sarah is with Everyday Democracy, she hopes to explore the application of democratic processes and participation in communities overseas, and the potential to link these with international development.
In 2006, Sarah returned to the United States after working for 2.5 years as a trainer with a volunteer organization in Australia to pursue her Master of Social Work at Boston University. She worked part-time for Oxfam America while at BU. In 2007, Sarah moved to Connecticut to study at the University of Connecticut School of Social Work to focus on policy practice and concentrate on international social work. During this time she completed an internship at the Connecticut AIDS Resource Coalition and the United Nations as an International Association of Schools of Social Work NGO representative. Her main research interests included immigration policy, human trafficking, women’s issues, and human rights. She graduated in May 2009.
