Research-Evaluation and Data Specialist

Everyday Democracy is seeking a Research-Evaluation and Data Specialist. This is an intermediate level professional position for an individual experienced in research/evaluation and in working with different types of data. The person in this role will be part of the Evaluation, Research and Learning (ERL) team and will support all units across the organization, specifically programs, development, and communications.  This position is ideal for someone who likes working in a research and evaluation context and can use a multi-dimensional lens when analyzing data to provide essential input on data utilization to all units to improve organizational processes and impact.

Essential Duties: 

  • Support research and evaluation projects in various phases -- data collection, entry, and analysis
  • Conduct background research on content and design of tools, materials and guides we develop
  • Conduct literature searches and write up reviews for projects
  • Analyze data across organizational units for tracking key performance indicators
  • Support organizational learning in data utilization for planning, accountability, and impact
  • Respond to requests from units on project data-related tasks
  • Operate a CiviCRM database to enter and extract data and reports
  • Monitor database routinely to conduct data checks for duplicate records, append current address/phone information and identify and correct data gaps in documentation
  • Perform data entry related tasks that include cleaning, sorting, and entering data
  • Compile performance data for grant proposals and reports as needed
  • Attend and participate in scheduled meetings with ERL team, cross-unit teams, all staff, project-specific teams, and check-ins with supervisor
  • Any other administrative duties assigned by supervisor

Knowledge, skills, and abilities: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree is required, Master’s a plus
  • Experience working in CiviCRM database systems
  • Knowledge of research and evaluation concepts and practices
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills; able to write user-friendly, jargon-free research reports 
  • Able to ask the right questions to understand data and reporting needs 
  • Detail-oriented and handles data with a high degree of accuracy
  • Intermediate competency in operating computer technology hardware and software
  • Able to work effectively in teams
  • Knowledge of community-based work; knowledge of community organizing, public or community engagement is a plus
  • Experience and/or knowledge working within the nonprofit sector is a plus
  • Commitment to learning about social and racial justice; experience in racial/social justice is a plus

Required Experience:

  • 3-5 years of professional experience working in applied evaluation, research and/or data analytics
  • Experience working with different technologies and databases, e.g.  CiviCRM, Survey Monkey, Excel, Microsoft Office 365, etc.
  • Experience working with qualitative and quantitative data
  • Able to work with data compiled from various digital platforms
  • Set up to work remotely

Work Environment:

  • Remote, with occasional onsite meetings possible  
  • M-F, normal business hours

Full-time, 40 hours, remote

Salary: $45,000 - $55,000, based on experience
